As you may know, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 eliminated our ability to deduct employee expenses beginning in 2018. This was widely viewed by experts as an unfair and punitive aspect of tax reform. Well, I have hopeful news to report. There has been legislation introduced in both the Senate and the House to reinstate these important deductions. Click (Is There Good News on the Horizon for Workers?) to see an article I have recently written about this issue.

Senator Bob Casey is sponsoring this legislation in the Senate (6 co-sponsors) and Representative Conor Lamb is the sponsor in the House of Representatives (14 co-sponsors). The Senate bill is S.2718 and the House bill is H.R. 2103. It is important that these initiatives receive support from other congressmen and the general public. I urge you to contact your Senator and your Representative and ask them to support this legislation. You may copy and paste the template below in an email your Senator and Representative.

You may find the contact information for your particular Congressperson at this site. Please take a few minutes to read my article. Then contact your Congressperson.
