Bauer Connect: Bridging Futures – An event Recap

Last week, UH Bauer students had the opportunity of engaging with DRDA leaders from diverse backgrounds at the Bauer Connect event. The attendees experienced a dynamic lineup of presentations, participated in a lively quiz session, and engaged in a thought-provoking panel discussion, providing invaluable insights for their professional journeys.

Connecting with University and Campus:

Connecting with universities and campuses is crucial for companies like DRDA and the accounting industry. It not only allows us to share our knowledge and experience with the next generation of professionals but also provides an opportunity for students to gain real-world insights and build connections within the industry. Through events like Bauer Connect, we aim to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between academia and industry, empowering students to thrive in their future careers.

Opportunities for Growth:

For students considering their career paths, joining DRDA offers more than just a job—it’s an opportunity for growth and advancement. Unlike experienced staff who may have already established their careers, students have the advantage of a blank canvas, ready to be painted with diverse experiences and opportunities.

At DRDA, we recognize and value the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that students bring to the table, offering them a platform to shine and make meaningful contributions from day one. Take, for example, our tax department career path: starting as Staff I, graduates progress to Staff II and then to Senior positions. With dedication and skill development, they can advance to roles such as Tax Manager/Department Manager and ultimately become Partners at twice the industry norm.  This advancement is made possible because of the resources DRDA has developed to help our people succeed.  The picture below lists some of those resources.   If you want to know more about these resources and the opportunity for you, just give us a call or email.

A Bright Future Awaits:

As students embark on their journey with DRDA, they can look forward to a promising future filled with opportunities for personal and professional development and growth. Unlike many CPA firms, where partnership is often restricted to a select few, DRDA offers a rare opportunity for every member of our team to become a partner if they desire. We believe in treating everyone fairly and giving opportunities based on talent and hard work, ensuring that the brightest and most dedicated individuals have the chance to shape the future of our firm.

In conclusion, DRDA is dedicated to empowering students and shaping their bright futures. Join us as we bridge the gap between academia and industry, together forging a path to success.

Culture can sometimes sound like a concern that is not that valuable and has little impact on our day-to-day work duties, but that is not the case. Workplace culture affects how we approach work, feel about our careers, and how work fits into our life. When DRDA emphasizes a positive and supportive culture, we can collaborate and be more productive because we are valued members of that culture.

When you feel valued, team members will do more than is expected. When colleagues are your allies rather than your competitors, everyone can grow and develop because we learn from each other.

Working in a positive environment allows the entire organization to be positively impacted. It also creates an underlying bond that makes team members realize they are part of a large family with their best interests in mind. When the team at DRDA strives to be supportive and do the right thing, we develop the kind of culture that people want to be a part of. This isn’t just good for business but for all of us.

Communication and positive business language skills demand practice.

“Collaborating with team members at DRDA to improve social skills can be very beneficial. Listening, responding, and paying close attention to body language can enhance your soft skills, which are necessary to have when starting to build a workplace relationship.”

Interactions and positive communication make it easy to feel like a family that cares deeply for each team member.

At DRDA, social skills are just as essential as your ability to understand accounting mechanics. Developing the art of small talk will enhance your communication skills and helps you create positive relationships. Find common ground by starting conversations with light topics. This will lead to trust and confidence in the relationship, which will help when the discussions are more serious.

Having a smile and making a lighthearted joke is a way to encourage others and promote our positive culture. These techniques are usually well-received and are more effective when working with others. Of course, we all have room to improve regarding positive communication, but we can all work together to support each other and the culture at DRDA with a proactive, kind touch.

The cultural environment is a critical aspect of a business that can affect the morale of the workplace, either positively or negatively.

“Here at DRDA, we formed the Culture Committee to ensure the growth and evolution of our corporate culture and to reap the benefits of a healthy working environment. “

Our Team has our culture on display daily, providing a supportive environment for those in need and helping one another with any workplace challenges that may arise. The “Positive Support System” our culture has created improved our morale and incentivized teamwork and established a renowned connection among co-workers.

This “sense of family” that has come as a byproduct of our cultural environment helps us to retain our best team members and quickly welcome new hires into the fold, where we understand support and assistance will be readily available whenever needed. A viable culture is an essential component of a thriving work environment. DRDA prides itself on having a nurturing office culture that allows for the growth and support of all its team members.
